A pot's volume in litres is its inside dimensions multiplied together (in centimetres) and divided by 1,000 — for a round pot, π × radius² × depth. Most herbs want roughly 2–4 L; leafy greens 3–5 L; fruiting plants and small shrubs 8 L or more.
